www.the-lost-art.com/live Hyperformula House Music.
House music lover will.i.am.the.dj (William Caldwell) grew up in a house full of musical influences and tastes, whether it was live instrumentation, DJ’s or just family gatherings, there was an infinite supply of it around. Growing up to the likes of Funk, Hip Hop and R&B, and a mother who was an avid vinyl collector, it gave will.i.am.the.dj the natural bug for collecting himself. Swing to the year 1993, and it all became clear what he wanted to do. Championing the Hip Hop surge of the early – mid 90’s, will.i.am.the.dj figured out that he wanted to produce music and focus on honing his sound… But before that, will.i.am.the.dj went to a club with influence from schoolmates, and was introduced to Dance Music formally. Familiar with the Hip House sound at the time, there was something different about this vibe here. The unity, kindness, and most of all, THE MUSIC. The first time seeing a DJ really pouring his heart and soul out through music and commanding the attention of the crowd.
will.i.am.the.dj was detoured and started to travel the East Coast and study the likes of DJ Dan, Doc Martin, Jason Jinx, Simply Jeff, etc… It was during the mid 90’s when it began at a friend’s apartment at N.C. State when he gave him a go on his turntables. That sealed the deal. Record shopping was in full effect for House Music and moves started being made. All of the sudden, thanks to a good friend, Mike Soden, he was playing along the likes of Hipp-E, Justin Long, Feelgood, Terry Mullan, and many more heavy hitters in the game. Hitting the east coast, midwest, and the south, will.i.am.the.dj was on the move. Now on to the next. On to the new millennium and William took a break from the stagnant scene, all the while staying on top of what was going on House Music wise. In 2004, William started playing out again, finding the scene broken by separatism of genres. Minimal House and Electro House had hit and was in full swing and he started catering to that sound although keeping true to the Hyperformula House Music sound…. It was then (mind you) will.i.am.the.dj rock’d with a crew of Dubstep, Trap, Breaks & Drum & Bass Artists and DJ’s.
Since that time will.i.am.the.dj has been playing to the North/South Carolina and Georgia masses and also doing production, which has taken us to now. 2012 was a busy year with Hyperformula House Music, and 2013 holds more promise with his production, mix compilations, live shows, and who knows what else the future holds? Also, don’t get twisted , he also plays plenty more genres other than just House, like Breaks, Trap, D&B, Hip Hop, Afro, really whatever makes sense! To stay up to date with show dates, mixes and other here are some links to his pages below! Peace and blessings to you all!
