The Lost Art Proudly Presents:  Phat Rabbit

DJ Phat Rabbit, aka Julian Cortez, North Carolina Resident 40 Years of Age.

In 1992, with the help of friends Phat Rabbit started to Dabble in the fine art of DJing, playing at local clubs and house parties. After two years of much practice and much more discipline he was ready for his official debut, a gig at one of the regionally renowned Essence raves, thrown by the Domingo Brothers. Conscience of the fact that first impressions last forever, Phat Rabbit knew that he had to blow it up. Ten minutes into his set all 700 bodies were moving to his masterfully mixed breaks. Over the course of three years he was called upon often. Playing at raves from Atlanta, GA to Madison Wisconsin and on to Chattanooga Tenn., of course the Carolinas could not be left out, playing Chapel Hill, Raleigh, Greensboro, Myrtle Beach, and Greenville, both North and South, just to name a few.

In early 1997 Phat Rabbit, while still keeping in touch with the party scene, began residency at a club in Fayetteville, NC called Level 3. During this time he Focused mainly on the club and also on a semi-regular gig in Wilmington, NC enjoying the intimate feel of the club environment. As one club closed and another club opened, the rave scene persevered. Julian was on the road and loving every moment at all the parties he played. Before the millennium ended, Phat Rabbit was known up and down the eastern seaboard, recognized for his funky breaks style and his flawless technic, some went so far as to refer to him as the Godfather of breaks. in late 1999 Release Management asked Julian to join the roster. Release, handles national and international artists such as Rennie pilgrem, DJ Sandy, Jeckyl & Hyde, Omar Santana, just for starters. Release , who is well known for its high standing in the break beat universe, added Phat Rabbit to their impressive list in the first year of the new century.

Julian has never lost the love for the music and his love for the rave community. At the moment he is a resident at a new club in Wilmington , club 131, fast becoming the hottest club in the carolinas. he is traveling from state to state performing at some of the biggest parties on the east coast.

The most impressive thing about phat rabbit is the fact that his goal is to spread the music he loves so much to as many people as he can, and if some kid shows interest in what he does, he will do all he can to help and support them… never shrugging them off as some other so called “artists” do. In the words of Phat rabbit …..
Music is the key, be part of it !!!!!
