toward re-establishing unity by supporting others,
out of or through their love of and belief in what
it was that brought us here in the first place,
that pulsing pounding rhythm…that vibe.

Carmine Diaz easily navigates the terrain of
metaphor and innuendo.
His moniker, BLK/MTL is an acronym.
B/ORN L/OSER K/ILLING M/YSELF T/O L/IVE
It is at once dark and personal, but look deep
and uncover a hidden meaning and a road map
of the path many take… The path many are driven
to.
The genesis of his, and our journey is a sense
of difference and of being apart from the very
beginning. Visually this is expressed as the
“monster” or mutant. It resides within us all
and some of us cannot properly wear a mask
to hide it. “A Born Loser.”
In effect, being an outsider is an often fanatical
aspiration to achieve. Perhaps we wish we could
just execute the loser inside and a new life would
blossom, but the reality is trickier – to live an
authentic life to our own standards may nearly kill
us.
